What you will learn.
- 01Audit an existing product and find what to systemise first
- 02Set up variables and tokens that map to code
- 03Build a component library with clear rules
- 04Document and govern the system as it grows
Most design systems fail quietly: nobody uses them, or everybody uses them differently. This course is about the decisions that prevent that, from naming tokens to deciding who can add a component.
Anders works through the system he built for a retailer with twenty product teams, and you build a smaller version of it alongside.
Who it's for
- Product designers who maintain a shared library
- Design leads starting a system from an existing product
- Front-end developers who work closely with design

Your teacher
Anders Lindqvist
Design systems lead, Stockholm
Anders leads the design system team at a Swedish retailer with more than twenty product squads. Before that he spent a decade as an interface designer and front-end developer, which is why his components always ship with code.
He cares about the boring parts that make a system last: naming, documentation and saying no to the fourteenth button style.
