Screenshot, count and group every pattern in a product before building anything.
Every design system starts with an audit, even if the product already has a library. You can’t systemise what you haven’t looked at.
The inventory
We screenshot every button, input, colour and heading in a real product and group them on one board. The retailer we study had fourteen button styles.
Choosing what comes first
Not everything deserves a component. We rank patterns by how often they appear and how much they vary, and pick the first ten to build.
